An additional layer of security when using a UK removals company is the benefit of having your belongings insured. Liability cover is included as part of the price at Hackworthy, of which you wouldn’t be able to take advantage of if you moved house without the help of a house removal company.

While most of our clients start off thinking they’ll pack everything themselves, packing can be a much bigger job than most people realise. It’s easy to underestimate how long you need to set aside to get ready for your move. For example, if you’ve got a three bedroom property, you’re likely to need around 40 packing boxes. If it takes you on average 20 minutes to pack a box, you could spend at least 14 hours packing.

If you need storage for your belongings (but don’t need access to them), conventional container storage is a good option. We’ll send a vehicle to your home and load your belongings into containers. They’ll be sealed and returned to our warehouse where they’ll be kept safe and secure in a clean, dry environment. Once you’re ready to have them back, all you need to do is let us know and we’ll get them transported to your new home.
The number of containers you’ll need depends on how much you have to store. Each container has a capacity of 250 cubic feet. As a rough guide, if you’ve got a one bedroom property you might need two or three containers. For a four bedroom house, you’ll probably need six or seven.
To give you an accurate estimate for storage costs, we usually send one of our estimators out to visit you to carry out a survey so we can make sure everything’s covered.

Many people find it easier to picture themselves living in a property if there’s less furniture and fewer personal possessions to distract them. By putting some of your things in storage, you can encourage potential buyers to imagine filling the space with their own belongings.
We can collect and store anything you’d like taken away while you’ve got people viewing your property, helping you increase your chances of making a sale. When you’re ready, we can bring everything back, or transport it to your new home.
We can also store furniture while you’re having work done on your property, or if you’re downsizing and need somewhere to keep family heirlooms or furniture which you intend to pass on to family members or sell in the future.
There are often times when you don’t need a full removal service, just a little help getting things from one place to another.
We offer a ‘man and van’ service at an hourly rate or half day rate, which is great for moving on a limited budget, transporting a few bulky items or putting items into storage (like when you’re de-cluttering your home before you put it on the market or before you have building work done).
Moving furniture around your home so you can remodel or redecorate can be tricky, particularly when you’ve got large, bulky pieces of furniture or valuable antiques. We can help take the stress and strain out of re-arranging furniture in your home, whether that’s a few key pieces or several rooms’ worth
De-cluttering or downsizing

Renting a unit in a local self storage and need help moving items? We will ensure that your effects are transported with the greatest of care. With many years of experience our crew are able to ensure maximum use of the space you’ve rented.
Insurance & Waivers
Sometimes, the best laid plans can go wrong. Accidents happen.
With Hackworthy and Sons, you can relax knowing you’re fully covered for anything that might happen during your move.
If you cancel a confirmed booking at short notice, you’d normally have to pay a percentage of removal charges. With our cancellation waiver insurance, you’ve got full cover. So if your plans change unexpectedly, you won’t have to pay any extra costs, even if you cancel the day before you’re due to move.
Late key waiver
If you can’t get in to your new property on time you’d normally have to pay extra costs of £50 per hour. With our late key waiver insurance, our crew will stay on site for up to three extra hours with no additional charge.
We believe in making things as simple as possible. That’s why unlike most other removal companies, your quote includes insurance cover for all your belongings throughout the move.
All removal companies registered with the British Association of Removers are required to provide liability cover as part of their standard T&Cs. But many charge extra for removal insurance, storage insurance and in some cases, even fire insurance.
Moving can be stressful enough without having to decide whether you need to take our extra cover to insure your possessions against damage or loss. Our insurance is designed to give you cover for your belongings throughout the whole removal process; including any time they’re in storage.
In the unlikely event that something does go wrong and you need to make a claim, we’ll guide you through the process and help get it sorted out as quickly as possible.
