British Association of Removers

We are members of the largest and most recognised Trade Association for removals in the UK. All BAR members must meet strict standards and are regularly inspected to make sure that their facilities, equipment, staff training and operational procedures remain at the highest level.   • Setting high professional standards for the industry by our Membership Criteria, and the BAR Code of Practice, approved by the Trading Standards Institute;

BS EN 12522

Hackworthy & Sons have elected to adopt the European Standard for removals – BS EN 12522.

This is a quality standard specifically aimed at furniture removals and storage for the benefit of the private individual. We are been inspected every year since 2002 to ensure the standards we operate are among the highest in Europe.

BS EN 1252 is one of the most highly recognised symbols for safety and quality. It aims to protect the interests of customers against the provision of furniture removals that may not be in compliance with industry standards

It has been awarded to us because we have demonstrated our ongoing commitment to providing a quality service to our customers.

The requirements include the professionalism of personnel, suitability of transport material and packing equipment, compensation procedures and formalities in the event of claims

An independent inspection of our premises, processes and service were made including feedback from our customers

  • Staff will be punctual, courteous and honest in their dealings with customers
  • Detailed written quotations will be provided
  • Suitable packing materials, equipment and vehicles will be used
  • Assistance with compensation procedures in the event of claims for loss or damage.

An annual  independent inspection of our premises, processes and service is made very year to ensure our compliance.

Hackworthy & Sons became the first removal company in Plymouth to be accredited as ‘Trusted Traders’ by consumer champions Which?.

Which? launched their nationwide endorsement scheme as a way of recognising service orientated businesses which have been deemed as being  trustworthy for  consumers . The Trusted Trader scheme is specifically geared towards businesses which provide essential services within your home or for your vehicle. We earned our accreditation after successfully completing a vigorous assessment process which included a full documentation and complaints audit as well as a site visit.

When you move home, it is standard industry practice to pay your removal charges in advance. However, the concern is what would happen if your chosen remover suffered financial failure before your moving date. As members of the British Association of Removers, all our customers are covered by the Advanced Payment Guarantee. Ensuring that the reasonable costs of your relocation would be covered if the worst happened.

The guarantee applies to private individuals moving home to, from or within the United Kingdom and so you can have total confidence in using a BAR Member company for your move.
