Moving House - Unwanted Items

Many clients who are moving House ask us how to dispose of their unwanted items.

While we can of course arrange this as a commercial business, we are charged for all disposal for waste disposal, which we then have to pass onto our clients.

However many local charities and community groups are always willing to accept good quality items and often collect for free. While local councils offer ways to dispose of items past their best.

We know it’s a busy time when you’re trying to organise your move so we’ve done the homework for you and provided some useful links below.

If you have large items in need of disposal local councils offer collections for a nominal fee

Recycling/Waste Centres

Check opening times for your local recycling centre.

Recycling Unwanted Furniture

Many local community projects will accept donations and often offer a collection service to householders for useable goods. Donated furniture and household items are offered at affordable prices to people on low incomes.

While E-bay or Gumtree provide the means to sell unwanted furniture online the sites below offer a way for unwanted items to be re-used within the local community.

From start to finish Hackworthy and Sons made our move from Cornwall to the Malverns as smooth as possible. Despite awkward, narrow stairs in our new home, they were able to find innovative ways to navigate delivering our furniture safely and securely. We used Hackworthy for our home move from Devon to East Sussex and simply couldn’t rate them highly enough! From the moment they turned up in the morning the guys were professional and reassured us every step of the way that we would fit everything in the lorry safe and sound. It was a 3 day move because of the distance and safe practice for loading and unloading, and this reflects the care of the company both for their staff and for not wanting to rush the job and sacrifice quality. Everything arrived in perfect condition and we were thrilled with the service. A top notch job well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Went well , they know what they are doing. Overseas removal . They offered a choice of ports in one country for arrival of goods. They keep you updated and help with customs.
